doug-todd.jpgWhen error messages have you frustrated to the breaking point, Service Technician Doug Todd is the man you’re likely to get ahold of. We pulled Doug away from the computer for a few minutes to see what we could uncover about the enigmatic Technician species.

Rate yourself on a scale of 1 to 10 how geeky you are.

I would put myself at about an 8. I follow science and technology news and I enjoy sci-fi and horror stuff. I’ve never donned a superhero costume as an adult though, and I don’t ever find myself participating in the age long debate as to whether a superstar destroyer could match up against the U.S.S. Enterprise. Admittedly I do own the Cosmos series on DVD and can mimic the sound of a 5 ¼ floppy drive pretty well.

If you could have any one “super power”, what would it be?

The power to kill a Yak from 200 yards away with mind bullets.

What can most people do that you cannot?

Properly match their clothes. I’m quite colorblind. I’m so colorblind that my cones are colorblind.

Which Star Trek character are you most like?

Q

When you’re not fixing computer problems, how do you spend your time?

I really enjoy live music. Local or national acts, it doesn’t matter. Last concert I went to was Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, which is his bluegrass project. I saw Buckethead recently as well. I spend about an hour or so every day practicing guitar, and I try to get out and disc golf about three times a week. I like dive bars.

It’s rumored that you’re a bit of a “metal head”. Is this true?

Yeah that’s true. I grew up on thrash metal. I like all genres though. There are some really talented players in all of them, and I’m a sucker for musicianship.

Where is the best food in town served?

I’ve only lived here for a couple of years, so I’m hardly an authority. I’ll give a shout out to Louie’s Wine Dive at 4040 University Avenue, though. Friendly people, good variety of spirits, and stupendous food.

Is the world really going to end Dec. 21st, 2012?

Hopefully, I don’t want to have built this doomsday bunker for nothing.

Dymin is ground zero of a zombie apocalypse. What do you do?

Steal a big truck and get out of town.
